Hello y’all! I found the channel recently and heard Scotty said something about sending an email and I am thought how great it would be to pick his brain on this. I recently horribly mismanaged a car of mine because I didn’t realize it was burning oil and I knocked a rod running it dry. Stupid, I know. Anyway, now I am stuck with a 2007 Hyundai Entourage with 209k miles in it for my daily commute to work and for when I go drive around with my fiancée. This adds up to driving about 1500 miles a month. This has felt like burning money to me so I’m starting to save up to buy a used car that will have a better gas mileage. The only problem is I’m broke. I have $4,000 in the bank atm and I’m not sure if I can get something that will satisfy me for that price. I make about $2,000 a month but I can only save 30% of that so the saving up is really slow. I would like to buy a 2010-2014 Honda or Toyota.
Should I buy a cheap one just to keep me going? Should I just stick with the van? What about biting the bullet and getting a car loan from my credit union and buying privately?
I would sell the van get something else.
There's nothing wrong with financing a vehicle through your credit union. Sell the van and get what you want.
$4,000? You could probably buy a 2003 to 2006 corolla or Camry for that price. Stay away from the 1998 to 2002 corollas because they burn oil.
