my friends family is selling a 1990 corolla 2 door coupe with 50k km for $1000. previously owned by a older woman. the car looks great and i love the asking price and km, but i’m just not sure if these cars sit well after barely being driven the last 31 years. what should i be looking out for?

i am also 16 years old and am looking for potential first car and was wondering if there were any thoughts about having a older toyota as a first car. thanks

Hello there!

That car has been sitting most of its life if that is real kilometrage. Here is a video with Scotty's tips.

Good luck!

Though I agree that cars that sit unused develop many problems, I'd personally take a car that was used twice a week for 30 years over one that had sat unused for the last 5.

i would gamble on it too

If it's in decent shape (not rusted out) and running OK, for $1000 it's hard to go wrong. If it lasts just a year you'll still be way ahead of the game.

You are talking about 32 years old car. I would not consider as a daily driver. Too many things can break on that car that may cost you more than what you paid for the car.
