After the car sat for a couple months the new battery went dead. I tried to start it and the gas pedal did NOTHING. No control at all. The idle was very low and then went above 1,000 rpm's. So I tried the key on, key off, key on, key off, start it, idle in gear for 5 minutes with emergency brake on trick. That gave me gas pedal - throttle control but now it idles between 350-400 RPM's or it goes lower and dies. What do I do?

Clean the IAC valve and MAF sensor.
