Should I buy a 1997 Mecury Marquis 4.6l Automatic one owner car from the owner?

Scotty,

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the owner of a 1997 Mercury Marquis with 99K miles. This

was owned and driven by the grandmother. As you might suspect it does have some issues like clear coat

coming off in spots and a few dings(80yr old driver) but looks in pretty good shape for it's age. The main

concern I have is that is has been sitting for a few years since she stopped driving and I am concerned about

flat spotted bearings and such that can occur when vehicles sit for too long. I will test drive tomorrow and

see if I can detect any unusual bearing noises to hopefully ensure no problems before I make an offer.

They are offering the car for 4K but I will probably make a offer of less.

Any of your input and wisdom is appreciated.

Check the frame and make sure it's not rotting away. Bring a scan tool with you and make sure that there are no codes whatsoever. As far as the price and mileage goes, it's fine. I bought my '03 for $2800 and it had 96k miles.
