I am looking at a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with 180k miles on it. It would be a private party sale and he is the second owner. The car is an automatic.
Can I expect this car not to have transmission problems or any major problems for the next couple of years?

You need to have that 18-year-old car checked out thoroughly by a good mechanic to determine that.
