Go for it.  Use it as a knock-around car around town.   I wouldn’t trust it, however, for long distance road trips.

Yes

You can junk it for more than that

Don't buy it to junk it. You can keep it for yourself or sell it to a low-income person who needs a drivable car. (Obama's Cash For Clunkers program pissed me off royally bc it took a lot of decent cars off the market) I own and drive a 2001 Honda Accord with about 197K miles on it (new transmission recently, no other major repairs) and it runs great. Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without ....as the old saying goes.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear I didn't mean that he should drunk it I was just saying that even if the car has a complete a failure immediately after he buys it he is still not losing money

Heck, you can't rent a car for a week for $100.

You really can't go wrong at that price - even if it only lasted a week or two you'd still be ahead of the game. Just don't sink a lot of money into it.

Why not. Hundred bucks in nothing. If it breaks down, you could probably sell it for scrap and get your money back.

Why not? It's not even that bad, it's a decent car as a beater!
