I just got out of high school and am looking to buy my first truck. I’ve saved about $4,500 in order to buy an older used pickup truck cash; I’m not looking for anything special, just a four door pickup truck that can last at least 2-3 years. I’ve landed on a 2003 Dodge Dakota Sport with 170,000 miles on it for $4,000 as being my best option close by. It’s a 2 wheel drive truck with a 4.7L v8 magnum engine in it. It runs and drives fine and the interior and exterior are in really good condition as the last owners used it gently (except for faded paint on the hood due to age). It has little to no rust; heat and a/c works. Should I purchase this pickup truck or continue to look for more options? Thanks in advance!
They were better back then than they are today but that's faint praise. Still there's not much around at that price point these days. It might be OK if it's been well cared for but there's a lot that can go wrong in 20+ years.
Be sure to have a good mechanic give it a thorough examination before buying.
