I am looking to buy my first car soon. I want to learn to drive a manual, so I was wondering if this car would be worth it. It's a 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS with 241k miles being sold for $988. It needs to be double clutched into 3rd gear, so it probably needs a new tranny. It also looks like the windows controls have been ripped out of the driver's side door panel but are still attached to the wires. It is being sold by Ulrich motors.

Nice of them to be up front about it but that looks like a big red flag to me. Yeah, the car is cheap but you may need to pour thousands of dollars of mechanical repairs into it and it may even be rusted out underneath. If the dealer is selling it for $988 they probably picked the thing up on its way to the junkyard for $100.
