Hi Scotty, love your channel you always give great advice and I've learned a lot. I have a question. A friend of mine has a mint condition 2013 Mazda Speed 3 with only 32,000 original miles on it. It gets driven once or twice every 3-4 months or so. It's been kept outside under a car cover in Pennsylvania. He's the only owner of the car. I'm thnking of buying it (probvaly between 18 to $19,000) I love the car, but I also want a reliable car. It's almost showroom condition, but I'm concerned about rubber seals, gaskets, boots etc drying out and the probelems they might bring. So my question is should i buy it? What should I look for? Any advice you might have I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks Rob
I'm thinking of buying it (provably between 18 to $19,000) Any advice you might have I'd greatly appreciate.That's crazy high price. KBB puts a retail value for a '13 Mazda3 Speed (ex/con, 32K miles) at $11,500 - $13,500 - they tend to have inflated pricing.
@hixster Yikes, I didn't notice the asking price! That's insane for a 12-year-old Mazda!
@chucktobias I only caught it figuring out what was special about the "Mazda Speed". Just a Mazda 3 with 2.3L turbo.
@hixster For that kind of cash you could get a nice late model Corolla or Civic.
@chucktobias car shopping with rose colored glasses, risky business. Ur right chuck.. spending 18-19K? Get a nice Honda or Toyota and forget the decades old Mazdas
Thanks for all the input guys. I'm only guessing at his price since he hasn't decided on selling it yet. This car has no rust. it's showroom condition. Basically like new in appearance. I just worry about rubber parts drying out.
Have a good mechanic give the car a thorough examination before purchase. For a PA car more than a decade old I'd be concerned about chassis rust.
@chucktobias That's definitely good advice. I plan to do so. This car has no rust. it's showroom condition. Basically like new in appearance. I just worry about rubber parts drying out.
