Should I change my transmission fluid?

I recently bought a 2009 Buick Lucerne CX , with a V6 3.9L Flex Engine and a 4 Speed Automatic Transmission.

I have seen your comments about NEVER flushing a transmission that doesn’t need it. Guess what my dealership recommended I do with my car.

It has no transmission issues , but this is my first vehicle and I want it to last. Is it too late for me to go ahead and just do a simple fluid change. My fluid still appears as a dark red on my paper towel from the dipstick.

I think you meant never flush any automatic transmission at all. Particulates can wind up in the valve body. The valve body is the "brain" of the transmission. The human equivalent is possibly having a stroke, where the gears won't shift properly or at all.

Don't flush, but do drain and fill is what Scotty said.

Please follow the posting instructions. Thanks.

I forgot to add that no additional work has been done at all to my knowledge to the transmission. It was owned by 3 owners before me , the first 2 being within the first 3 years of the car life. The last owner was a old man who kept logs of all the maintenance.
