I have a 2004 Lexus es330 with 176k miles. It has an automatic transmission. I do not know if the fluid has ever been changed before. Should I leave it be ir change some fluid? My dad and I just changed the oil and he wants to change the trans fluid too, but ive heard it can ruin the transmission with high miles if its never been changed. Thoughts?

Inspect the fluid first and make a decision accordingly. FAQ section of this forum gives you good information on this topic.

I say yes. Save the old fluid incase a problem comes up.

When I had my 2008 Highlander got it with 183k miles and I did a drain and fill. It did wonders for the car. It still had the trans dipstick, so it was easy to get the level right.
