I have 2003 VW Jetta with 130,000 miles it has 2.0L engine and automatic. I got it from my dying grandfather last year for free. It was my first car. It still runs and drives great even though it's 20 yrs old with that low mileage. I'm thinking if I keep this car, maintaining it and continue driving long time until engine went out or maybe wheels fall off lol cuz I'm too cheap to buy a brand new car.
It was free so definitely keep it until it starts requiring major repairs; at that point dump it. And if you don't want to buy a new car if any time by chance you come across a good used car buy it and have it as a back up.
that low mileage
130k miles is not low mileage. 130k kilometers is another story.
Since you got it for free, keep it until the wheels fall off and keep up with the maintenance on that vehicle.
Keep it for now but don't hesitate to get rid of it when something expensive goes wrong with it.
It's a VW so it will start to fall apart soon (if not already) and become a money pit.
If you can afford another car, then get rid of it. If not ... well I guess you don't have a choice then do you.
It’s free! Keep it.
Google the expected problems and solutions for your car as it ages and gets more miles.
Of anything comes up, ask us here, and we can help guide you if it is worth fixing, or not.
If it is working fine now, keep up with the maintenance!
