Hi Scotty . I just purchased a 2014 Toyota tundra SR5 TRD 4x4 , double cab, 128,000 miles, with a matching fiberglass high/low topper . I’ve been shopping for a tundra for over a year and finally found one I could afford -$20,500 . I absolutely love this truck ! No Cadillac rides better ! My question is should I service the transmission , fluid and filter , with not knowing the history of this truck . I know by watching your content that sometimes it’s better to not mess with higher mileage automatic transmissions . I want this truck to last me 10+ years . Thanks !
This kind of question is asked here constantly. For that reason details on servicing various types of transmissions can be found in the FAQ.
Of course, I’d follow CT’s lead and FAQs, but as a fellow Tundra fan, I’ll say that for my 2001 at every 100k miles I had tranny pan dropped, the fluid in pan replaced, pan cleaned out, and filter replaced. Now at 330k, tranny still shifts great (knock on wood). I realize different trannys over the years, but for what it worth…
