Should I use Straight 30 in my 1977 Ford 302 engine?

So I have a 1977 Ford LTD with the 302 engine in it.  I live in the southern part of the USA, and summers are pretty brutal here.  I've been running 10w30 engine oil in the car for while, and seems like the car is using a very small amount of oil.  The engine has been rebuilt and probably only has 25k miles on it.  Should I/can I use straight 30 oil?

In my experience,,,,,,,,,,,,, no.

Straight 30 doesn't have the additives that 10/30 has.

Try 10/40 if you like and see how it does.

No. Why?

Multiweight oil is far superior

10W/30 or 10W/40 was what that engine was designed to use - and what folks were using back in 1977. That low viscosity in a cold engine(the 10W)? That's what reduces wear at start up and warm up.
