I have a 2003 VW Jetta 2.0 with 160k miles the coolant has to be very specific in this car the owners manual says only use the G12 coolant which is red/pink color and can't use other types. What do you think of a $10 universal coolant claiming it's safe for vehicles of all makes, models and years and guaranteed to last 10yrs/300k miles? Or this $25 pink coolant that is specifically for European vehicles?

Use the specific.

Specific == the right chemistry for your car.

Universal == not quite right for anything but maybe you can get away with it.
