I have been helping a coworker with the CTS since July 23! She tried to buy a new vehicle, they are too expensive!! Because, ya know... Anyhow, she did her research and informs me of a known issues with the timing chain. I look into it, but in short time her issue goes away.
Sort of...
Anyhow, I advised her to get the codes read and it said injectors, it didn't make sense to me. I drove the car and it was basically in limp mode, it accelerated in twice the time of my 09 Focus with 300k on it! I asked her to pull the cam sensors and look to see if the gears were spinning, they were. The next day she took me in the CTS to autozone and i had them clear the codes, the codes said crankshaft sensor (we broke down leaving autozone, big drama and different story). We replaced the crankshaft sensor. Next the camshaft sensors. Then all 6 coil packs, still runs poorly...
We're making big plans to go for the timing chain, it this a bad idea!?
thank you
Jack
Well, that's logical. When you get those codes it usually means the timing chain is stretched out. But realize if the timing change is stretched out, the rest of the engine is probably pretty worn out too. And you're kind of bandaging a bigger problem
