What do you think of the older slant 6 engines that a lot of Chrysler vehicles used to have? They seemed to last forever but didn't have that much horsepower. Can you turbo charge or super charge them to get more horsepower? Are they robust enough to stand it as I have a chance to get a 78 Dodge pickup with a slant 6 in great condition.
Uncle Tony's Garage has a series on YouTube about the Slant 6 and hot rodding it . It has some potential power, but getting substantial power out of it takes quite a bit of work. You could get and install a running 340 for less bucks and trouble. I've had and worked on slant 6s, and I'd spend money on fuel injection and electronic ignition first.

I would never put forced induction on a naturally aspirated engine. It is really hard on the engine and more often than not it usually destroys the engine.
Chrysler developed a competition "Hyper Pack" for the Slant-Six which was very successful in NASCAR.
