Heho everybody!
I was already checking through 100 Videos and posts, but i cant find a solution, so i try to bother you for help. Im not a car specialist, just a random guy enjoying fixing my stuff - and car.
About the car:
Model: Jaguar XJ X308 3.2L
Year: 2000
Km: roughly 200.000
Transmission: Automatic
I had coolant leaking, turns out the thermostat housing (original platic one) broke, plus waterpump seals died.
I changed the housing, thermostat and the waterpump. Cant find any leaks now (ir dye test).
Now my car still blows too much smoke, even once warm. Color seems to be white to me.
I heared it gould be the headgasked, so i tested for bubbles, with a test kit and checked oil color. Everything looks fine and normal, the test kit didnt change its color.
It looks like i dont loose coolant, but cant certify yet since i did the repairs just two days ago...
Now, IF its not the headgasket, what would cause my smoking problem? Any ideas?
Oh i also checked the spark plugs and looked inside - looks fine aswell. I had one oily spark plug tho - cleaned everything but havent checked again (also just two days ago)...
Thanks in advance and a nice sunday!
Well if your engine burns oil you will get white smoke. If it burns coolant you will also get white smoke. And if it's getting way too much gas you can get white smoke coming out too. Realize jaguars turn into endless money pictures they age. But if it runs okay and you don't lose too much oil or coolant or you don't even notice losing it, you could keep driving it. Just realize the car will turn into an endless money paid soon
Thanks for the super fast reply!
I got it pretty cheap because of obvious problems. It sits in my garage and gets repaired step by step. Id like to do as much as possible on my own and only go for the Shop for things i simply cant do or the tools are too expensive for a one time event.
Anyways, guess ill watch through the rest of your Videos, maybe ill find more on the Oil side of problems.
Thx again!
