I have a 2005 honda pilot and its been a week since i turned it on and today I went to turn it on and when I crank it I started to smell something burning. So I told my dad to crank the car and I went under the car and the smoke was coming out from the starter. I know I sounds obvios that I'm gonna need to replace the starter. Just want to make sure thats the only thing I'll need to replace. I bought this battery at March of this year. And alternators im not sure if its bad too. Any way to test alternator?

Just to verify, when you "cranked" it, the engine did turn over/rotate?
Yes it tried to turn on then it starts to smoke
You can load test the battery and starter in Autozones for free.
Hello,
Form the way you explain the issue it does indeed sound like a starter motor issue,
Hope this helps,
All the Best.
