My son is looking for a sporty but reliable car and his choices come down to two 2008 models with about the same mileage 130,000. He has found a Solara convertible with a V-6 and a Volvo C-70. They both will need some things like brakes or water pump we think but we like the Volvo for its looks and hard top convertible. We like the Solara too but it is a V-6. He thinks with proper care both would last to 200,000 miles but is torn now about which to purchase. They are both priced below average asking price. Both are at a dealership.
Thanks Scotty we enjoy your videos and humor and diatribe. 😎
What is the actual price? Did you have those vehicles checked out by a mechanic?
Price was $5500 and $6000 Solara vs Volvo c70. Solara needs brakes connecting rods and motor mounts in the near future Volvo had similar issues and was getting water pump replaced. Mechanic checked.
needs brakes connecting rods
Volvo had similar issues
Don't buy either one. The reason you have a mechanic inspect before you buy, is to avoid such a disaster.
Go with the Solara. If things go wrong with the hardtop on that Volvo I would imagine those repairs will be very expensive
People who keep saying "dont pay that much" are obviously not in need of cars themselves, because if they were they would understand it's a sellers market at the moment
The Solara won out at $5500 some attention needed but no deal breakers and the Volvo was getting work done.
