I pulled my spark plugs today to find the terminals and inside of the coil pack covered in this white, sticky, wax like buildup.
what could it be? Is it something to worry about?
After some more research I believe it to be dielectric grease from the last time they were changed and this concerns me because NGK manufactures my spark plugs and they directly say to insert their plugs dry. What should I do next?
Clean off the crud, re gap the plugs, put a small amount of anti seize compound on the threads and reinstall the plugs, torque to specs. When installing steel spark plugs in an aluminum head, anti seize compound is a must.
Thanks for the advice! I can’t use anti-seize with NGK either or it will change the torque specs of the threads and can cause me to over tighten it
thanks again!
Baloney - put the plugs in dry at your own risk, I don't care what NGK or anybody else says.
