Sports Sedan

Hey Scotty, I'm looking for a fun new luxury sports sedan that I can use every day and will last at least 5 years. The IS 350 has been my favorite so far because of the reliability. Any other recommendations around the same price range to look at?

Thanks

KIA Stinger GT?

_______________

Oh, … if you just looking for a sporty sedan that you will keep for, … say, ~ 5 years, … consider it! Those are great cars for that. Very sporty, discounted deeply new - at least in my end of the woods - and will cause no trouble for the first 60 to 75K. I would try one for size, and if it fits, drive a hard bargain! Don’t accept anything but a deep, deep discount! Be patient and dealer will give. Shop couple or three dealers if that feasible.

Can I suggest Lexus GS350 2013-2020?   I am actually looking to get one this year.

Thanks will do. Do you know the reason why it's being discontinued?

Lexus cites slow sales and the deteriorating sedan segment as the reason to discontinue it.

While not meant to be comprehensive, here is a glimpse at issues people have reported:

Does anyone have any thoughts on the KIA Stinger GT?

In terms of what?

In terms of reliability I think that you should look elsewhere and that any Lexus would last triple the amount of the Kia.

In terms if it is a competitive option to IS & GS 350. From some YT videos, I have watched it seems to be better in performance, but reliability I'm not quite sure about.

That is a very fun car to drive, as a matter of fact. Great driving dynamics! It was engineered by former BMW M-division VP of Engineering Albert Biemann. However, historically Hyundai/Kia products have generally been OK up to 100,000 miles; beyond that their reliability/durability really diverges from Toyota/Lexus (using them as benchmark). However, the dealership experience absolutely sucks with Hyundai/Kia. If you can get past that and plan to keep up until 100,000 miles and then get rid of, they can be fun, OK cars to drive. Plus hardly anyone else around you will have one, so it will be unique - if you like that or not. But if you plan to put more mileage beyond 100,000 miles it’s NOT a recommended choice.

I agree with Day Walker if you think about the Stinger it isn't your typical korean hatchback. But I would never buy one because they tend to fall apart before 100k miles and their resale value is somewhat poor. If you are happy with a IS350 or GS350 I would stick to those. Plus, the GS350 is being discontinued so you could get a better price. I don't even know if this is even in the same league of what you are talking about but I would also want to recommend you the Honda Accord 2.0T. Of course, first place goes to the GS.

On the other hand if you only keep the Stinger for 5 6 years it could be a great car but if you want solid car without any thoughts on its long term reliability, go for the Lexus. Also consider resale value.

The Acura TLX also looks like a contender vs the Lexus IS.

And if you are looking for 5 years tops, the sports sedan than made sports sedans. The BMW 3 is a fun option.

The BMW I had was problem free in its infancy. But after about 5 years, maintainence and repair costs started piling up.

So if you are done with it in 5 years, the 3 might be an interesting choice.

But if you want almost guaranteed reliability, best option is the Lexus or Acura.
