I have acquired a boat that weights about 1,000lb with the trailer. I'm also in the market for a car. Would it be okay to tow this every weekend with a sedan such as a Camry? If I'm towing weekly, do I need to get something with a tow package like a Highlander?
I would prefer to stay with a car or small SUV(Rav4) but many say I need something bigger for regular towing, even if it's lightweight.
Advice?
Thanks!
I would not tow anything with the Camry. A Rav4 is the minimum I would use, and even then it's stressing it a lot.
A med to large SUV would do the trick. Full size truck is overkill for 1,000 lb. That's the same as 4 adults.
I’ve always heard Scotty say if you’re going to tow or haul something a Ford F-150 is your go to truck. And I believe I also heard him say desiel engine is better than gasoline engine when towing.
Well, he also mentions the Ford Diesel for towing heavy loads esp. if you tow often. The OP wants to tow 1,000 lbs so Diesel is overkill. Even a F150 gas version for 1,000 lbs is overkill.
