Hi there, long story incoming. My car, a 2010 Suzuki Swift, is making a loud squeaky noise from the belt for the first two-three minutes after start up. My mechanic has advised that it’s due to the alternator being for the incorrect model of car, meaning the belt is slightly out of line. He says not to touch it, but I’m a professional and am embarrassed when my colleagues hear this car from a mile away. I live in grand cayman and parts are extortionate (quoted 1450 usd for the alternator alone, no labour) however my parents are coming over from nz and I’m hoping to get them to bring a new alternator so I can have it installed. Only issue is that I can’t find the vin on the motor and the vin listed on my papers isn’t showing any results, meaning I can’t track the correct alternator for the specific model. Here is the vin on my papers - JS2ZC11S3A5551375. Could anyone advise how I can find the alternator part number, or if there is alternative fix (eg replacing the incorrect bearing on the alternator). Many thanks, Cam.

Most of our members are in the U.S. or Canada and not familiar with cars in your market.
I could not find a parts seller in New Zealand that will search by the car's VIN. However it appears there is a vendor there specializing in Suzuki Swift parts:

Here is what they come up with for an alternator:

Obviously you don't want to wind up with another incorrect alternator. You might want to contact them with the details about your car.
