Scotty,
Not sure where my original question went, but it is gone. So here goes. I have a 97 nissan pathfinder 3.3 v6 4x4 automatic transmission with only 79,000 miles. When it starts, it goes high rpm, then drops to very low, almost stalls, then comes back to normal. It has always done this. Dealer cannot figure it out and was no help. I changed air filter, plugs, wires, Distributor cap, rotor, cleaned throttle body and maf sensor and still the same. I have just decided to live with it. Do you have any ideas to correct this? Thanks

Like doc said check for vacuum leaks. I would also have the battery & alternator load tested
why the downvote?
What down vote? From whom?
Thank You, the engine does have a TPS and an IAC. I will check the PCV valve and hose first. TPS would be an easy thing to change , but IAC is another story. Thanks guys for your help. I really love this helpful site.

Does this early engine have a TPS or IAC system? How about replacing the probably clogged up PCV valve and checking the vent tube from the valve cover to the air cleaner for crud? You might also check for manifold vacuum leaks.
