start up rattle on z28 97

I have a 97 z 28 with the lt one engine. On cold starts it has a rattle for about ten seconds, and its getting worse. Once the car starts, and the oil pressure rises, its only about two seconds before the noise stops.    Car has sixty k miles. Its been driven easy, I bought it new.  I am guessing that its a leaked down lifter, but the noise is getting quite serious.  This problem started nearly ten yrs ago, but the cold rattle is getting worse a bit each year.  I am wondering,  if I were to pause the start, by stopping the engine from starting, then running the starter til I have full oil pressure, will that hurt anything ?  I am thinking the starter will wear out faster of course, but am wondering if anything else would be damaged by wiring out the fuel pump for seven seconds while the starter runs.  I am also considering, wiring out the ignition, but I think it would be better to depower the fuel pump. I am also considering a way to get a pre oiler put on and running that before cold starts. What do you think would work best.
