I have a 1997 Lincoln Town car executive series. Lately I've been having problems starting car as if the gas wasn't getting to engine..I can hear fuel pump when I turn key..Can a fuel pressure regulator cause the car not to start or is this signs my pump going bad

Both.  Check your fuel filter.  When was it last replaced?

  1. I had a 97 LTC up until 2016. Had the same issue. Replaced the fuel filter- it got better but still had to replace fuel pump. At 20 plus years old my guess sadly is that it is the pump. Also when I blew out the old fuel filter I found some rust particles. Just another sign of its age.

you probably hearing fuel pump relay working but not actual fuel pump... same issue on my beater chevy truck... all i did is to replace fuel pump and filter

Care to please mention the model & mileage of the truck?
