Hi there, I'm considering the new toyota corolla cross , besides lack of power what do you think? The more I learn about Toyota I like the brand and i need to get a vechice this spring or summer at the latest , most likely lease first then buy after the bubble burst!I like Rave4 just not sure in my price range!
IMHO, the Corolla Cross is more of a descendent of the original RAV4 than the current generation RAV4.
The RAV4 has been upsized over the years. The original RAV4 was as small or smaller than the Corolla Cross.
In fact, older RAV4’s were built on the same platform as the Corolla. But current RAV4’s are built on the same platform as the Camry.
With that said, the Corolla Cross is built on the current Corolla platform. And while the Cross is brand new, that platform has been around for several years.
If you can, I recommend the 2.0 engine with the direct shift CVT. Mainly to get the “launch gear” on the CVT. It will give you a little more pep in the driving experience.
What would you consider on a budget type car? I dont want to get junk?
Personally, I’d take the chance on the Corolla Cross. And I’d take a chance on most* Toyota’s than any other car make. Toyota are known for their reliability. They aren’t perfect, but significantly better than most of the competition. And if I were in the market for a car, the Corolla Cross would be one I would consider.
Since it is a year old model, I would wait with it some more years. Same with Yaris Cross. Issues of new models/generations are yet to be fixed. But if being a guinea pig for those issues doesn't bother you, you can try it.
I was thinking that too , what do you like?
What about used RAV4s?
I would not buy a first model year of any car. Instead, you can get a Toyota CHR if the budget is the main concern.
What would you consider on a budget type car?
Also look at the Honda HR-V.
Are you only looking at crossovers? Doesn’t the regular Corolla sedan/hatch cut the mustard?
I just hate being so low to the ground .
Whatever makes you happy, ma'am.
The Corolla Cross is the first vehicle to be built at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA in Huntsville, Alabama. Production began on 30 September 2021. found this info by googling. not sure if that helps your decision on buy this car or not.
thanks
This does look like an interesting vehicle. I'd avoid buying any first model year, as others have said, but the pricing on the Cross is attractive.
It's Toyota so even though it's a new car but I would trust it more regarding quality compared to many other brands. If it is an option for you you might try first leasing it and then going forward with a purchase if you liked the car/had no problems.
Thats what I was thinking, not going to buy it until it proves to be a good option. Thanks
