Steering box additive?

Hey Sir Scottith The Car God.

I have a 1998 GMC 1500. Runs great for 260k, but my steering box has developed a little bit of play in it. Enough to feel while driving. Is there an additive or a trick I can try before I just replace the thing? I don't mind replacing it but I thought id ask you first. Thanks

No. Additives cannot fix a worn out steering box.

Are you sure the slop is in steering box? Not tie rod end wear? Not wear in the steering shaft universal joint?

If you happen to have integral (recirculating ball) steering, then it may have a bearing adjustment that could make it feel a bit better.
