Steering wheel shutters when turning

Hi Scotty!

So I drive a 2013 VW Golf TDI automatic with 120k miles on it. So my question is, sometimes when I'm switching between reverse and drive (like when I'm parking), the steering wheel will shudder when I'm turning it and have some resistance to it. Really weird and the car only does this during this situations. I know that the car has electro mechanical steering so the system is less complex than on older cars, but I was wondering if you had any prognosis as to what's going on? Any help is much appreciated!

When is the last time the vehicle was aligned

2 weeks ago. The car has been doing this for a while now. I forgot to mention it does this not every time I drive it, only sometimes.

You actually have it backwards the electromechanical power steering is much more complex than a simple hydraulic pump. You have a problem with that system for my experience it's generally the assist electric motor starting to go out
