Considering getting a brand new STI and changing my own oil. What oil brand should I be using? (I know I’ll be using 5W-30)

Don't worry about the brand. It is all about they type, weight, and changing on time.

I usually put Mobil 1 in my wrx but pennzoil and castrol are also good. Don’t waste your money on royal purple.
but- how often you change is probably more important than brand because any certified oil is probably fine
