Hey Scotty,
Ive got a 2010 Acura CSX, 255,000km. I’ve noticed recently that there’s sometimes a loud rattling sound coming from somewhere under the hood. It seems to happen more when the car is cold, at around 1000 rpm, but only when the car is in drive. What could it be? Thanks 🙂
I put the car in drive with my foot on the brake.
Very frequently, these kinds of rattles are caused by loose heat shields on/near the exhaust system.
Can a bad EGR valve cause it? I put in my scan tool and everything looks OK except the EGR valve value the error rate is 92% and the value is zero, regardless of whether or not I’m driving or standing still
What @glen_stet is right. Sometimes transmissions will start to shake more like this with age and it is normal. Likely causing that heat shield or rattling noise.
