Hi everyone, I have I believe two separate issues with my pick up truck. It is a 2007 ram 1500 mega cab with the 5.7 liter hemi and the 5 speed automatic transmission.
Problem 1: there is an odd almost hot break smell my truck produces after it warms up to operating temperature just by simply idling. I'm concerned it my be my torque converter or transfer case as I do haul heavy loads with the truck, my buddy figures it smells like the tranny but that was checked and had the oil change at the correct time. So I am not sure of the origin of the smell.
The second issue is a faint tapping or clicking sound, and I can confirm it is not my exhaust manifolds as that seems to be more of a loud click sound. This sound seems louder when the truck first starts, it speeds up with the sound of the engine if you rev it as well. Some days after driv9ng a while it is barley audible, but is still present. Earlier last spring inreplaced the two serpentine belt idles which were making a sound alot like it. It is possible it is jsut my alternator but I would like a second opinion.
Thanks!!
probably time to get rid of that thing the taking I can guarantee you is coming from the hammer your engine they built them wrong and the cams don't get enough lubrication so then the lift is wearing they click but if you replace the lifters they will still make noise because the cam is bad and that caused the fortune.and the other problem is invariably internal transmission failure which happens on those things regularly if how are you I would ditch it now or just drive it until the wheels fell off
