'06 Grand Prix dies suddenly

  • I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 series3. Mileage reads 128,000, but it appears the odometer is unplugged. The engine seemed strong and the transmission shifted correctly when I got it.  Shortly after purchasing, it started reducing engine power or just dying. I took it to a local mechanic. He replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor. Although it fixed the codes, the car still dies randomly while driving. I hired the mechanic  to fix the dying issue, but he couldn't figure it out. So far, I've been fortunate enough that it died somewhere I still had enough movement to get out of traffic instead of on the interstate or going uphill. I have small kids, so the car remains parked because of the way it shuts down. It's incredibly dangerous. I read about the ignition recall and drive with one key just in case mine didn't get the repair. Are you familiar with this issue?

Realize that vehicle is one of the main vehicles that led to the demise of Pontiac building cars and not existing anymore. I hope you didn't pay much for it because they have very little value now those things have so many different problems that will make your head spin but the most notorious thing is the transmission is making them die out have a pro check that first and also have them check the fuel pump cuz they go bad all the time and that's easy to pressure test
