Hey there Scotty,

I’m from the Boston suburbs and out here as you know there are millions of Subarus. I recently bought a 2014 Subaru Outback 2.5i (Used Car Dealership) and recently changed the old battery. The car has been great for me, and was curious if you could do a review on one! She’s all yours for YouTube! As a first time owner if i bought something that will last me or if the car is hiding some secrets.

Thanks Skylar

Scotty has done videos on Subarus. Aside from the usual caveats of buying from a used car dealer the main issue you might have to deal with at some point is CVT failure. That is the weakest part of modern Subarus and a 2014 model will have a relatively early version of the CVT which is more prone to failing that newer ones. It would be best to take it easy (no jack-rabbit starts or towing) and change fluid on a regular basis. Also at the time that car was manufactured Subarus were developing oil burning problems due to defective piston rings.
