Subaru Legacy 2008 opinions

Hey scotty ! , I got my driving license about 2 months ago and my dad bought me a Subaru Legacy 2L,165 hp from 2008 with 50k miles. i would like to hear your opinion on the purchase and what problems should i expect from the car .

 

PS: sorry my English ,I'm not a native speaker .

Subarus that age are prone to head gasket problems. A 2008 model is not as bad as earlier ones in that regard but it was still made before the problem was solved. If the head gaskets have not already been replaced you can count on them failing. With that low mileage it may be a while (around 100K is typical), but age is a factor as well.

Usually the head gaskets will start dripping externally before internal failure occurs. Keep an eye on it and make sure to change the coolant regularly. Also if it still has the original timing belt you'll want to replace that due to age.

They're decent vehicles just make sure you change the oil regularly and change the coolant once every 5 years and take care of it

The automatic transmission on those cars are not strong, do not push the car hard.
