I’m in market to buy a new/used car. I’m kinda stuck looking at 2013 Subaru Legacy 2.5l (also worth 13k)and 2015 Toyota Avalon($17k). Subaru has 127k miles and toyota has 120k. Which car would you consider would be better bang for buck?
Assuming both are in good condition, all else being equal the Toyota will last longer. The 2013 Subaru will have an early version of Subaru's "Lineartronic" CVT which can be expected to fail in pretty short order at this age and mileage. Subaru was also experiencing oil burning problems at that time due to defective piston rings from a supplier. So I'd skip the Subaru.
Be sure whatever used car you buy that you have a pre-purchase inspection done by a good mechanic.
Between those two, go with the Avalon. It isn’t even a close contest.
