Suspension noise

Hi Scotty

I have a 2012 Subaru legacy GT 2.5

167000km

There is a rattle in the front end which occurs even on mildly rough roads. Not a really loud rattle but enough that I can hear it and feel like I'm neglecting the maintenance on my car if I don't fix it.

To me it sounds like sway bar links but I've replaced those and they seem tight still and I've checked the ball joints and tie rod ends and they all seem tight.

I've brought it to two separate shops including the Subaru dealership and neither mechanics have found anything wrong or loose or worn.

I'm wondering if it could possibly have something to do with the shock rods. The shocks have never been replaced on the car and it's at 167,000 km or maybe there is something else entirely that I'm not even thinking about.

Thoughts?

If they load test all your front end parts, and still couldn’t reproduce the rattle, I’d shift focus to a loose brake calliper/bolts.

But yeah, load test all the suspension & front end bits with a crowbar, first.
