Trying to buy an SUV for my wife, but I am trying to stay below say 18k. What motor or brand do you like, and as of how many miles should I stay away from. Trying to stay above like a 2010 or 2012. Gas mileage is not an issue, either 4 or 6 cyl. No 8 cyl.

I almost bought a 2010 Jeep Liberty only because of the price and condition
well if an SUV is too much then you'll have to get a sedan like Corolla/Camry.
Do not buy Jeeps or Korean cars.
Is that $18k taxes included or car price only? I want to suggest if you can increase that a bit then go for a brand new base Corolla. Or again if you can increase your budget and want suv then another option is brand new Corolla Cross. Another option is the new hr-v. In general used cars are expensive compared to before so if it's financially possible and you plan to keep the car for a long ish time go new.
