We bought a 2009 used Chevy Traverse and have had all sorts of problems with it, so we are looking to get a newer used SUV. I have watched the videos about the Earth Dream Honda engines which would eliminate Honda Pilots, but I have also read a lot about problems with Chevy Traverse and some quality issues from that brand. We are considering Toyota Highlanders but they may be smaller than what we prefer. I also have seen your reasons for not buying from a dealership, but that I probably what we will do. I am looking at 2016 to 2017 Honda Pilots and Chevy Traverses, and perhaps the same year Toyota Highlanders.
What are some of your thoughts or concerns about these vehicles?
well if you need something bigger get a Toyota Sequoia or if you don't mind going with something older get a 2002 Chevy Suburban or if a minivan works get a Toyota Sienna
Run away from the Traverse consider the Highlander and Pilot both 2016+.
If you can find a well cared for Pilot I would go for it. Friends 2004 Pilot went 330k before a trani issue. Never an engine issue and they were excellent on maintaining it. Always check the history. I would stay away from Traverse.
Stay away from the Traverse. GM quality has really gone downhill.
