Can I put 2014 Toyota corolla 1.8L engine on my 2009 Toyota Corolla 1.8L model car?
No you cannot simply swap it in without changing the ECU, PCM, and a lot of other items.
Your car, 2009, uses the 2ZR-FE motor. The 2014 used the 2ZR-FAE motor. Differences would be 10:1 compression vs 10.5:1 compression, respectively. The 2014 also uses a Valvetronic system. This system offers continuous adjustment to valve lift and timing and improves fuel efficiency by controlling the fuel/air intake using valve control rather than conventional throttle plate control.
You would have to upgrade computer modules to make it work, as well as other items. It would be more money that just buying another 2ZR-FE motor to replace the one you have.
Seems like we are getting more questions about engine swaps these days. Very interesting.
It is interesting. I'm wondering if people are just trying to hang on to their old cars longer because new ones are so expensive.
There are the same engines. But they have different computers. So I will pass on the engine swapping. I think @Mod_Man can help you with that.
