My names Dan. I live in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. About 35 miles north of Pittsburgh. I've got a 1998 tacoma SR5. 2.4, 5 speed 2wd with 5 lug wheels. With 235000+ miles. Why did Toyota make so many different variations in the tacoma.
Anyway, my problem is the engine wants to idle anywhere between 1250 and 1750 give or take. What do you think. I've checked for vacuum leaks and the egr system seems fine. I've read a bunch of online forums. Saying everything from the Mas air meter, throttle position sensor, air idle control, and even the cruise control. Otherwise the truck is mint-ish haha.

Get almost any basic scan tool and then diagnose it. It could be any of the above. Don't just guess.
