Tacoma transmission fluid

Bought a 4x4 2008 v6 Tacoma w/ the 5 speed automatic and 150,000 miles on it. Don’t know about service history, so should I change the automatic transmission fluid?

I would check it first and see what it looks like. It may have been changed before. If not, I would just change the filter out.

Change the fluid and filter, unless you want the filter to plug up and the tranny gives up completely.

It is hard to say because if you put new slippery fluid in and the transmission is used to the thicker fluid that has been in there from the clutch material shedding it could start slipping. Although it is a Toyota and the clutch doesn't,t shed that much, if you for sure knew that the transmission fluid has been changed before go right ahead.

Definitely change the filter,  it seems risky to change the fluid at that mileage . You could always save the old fluid and put it back in if the new fluid causes an issue.
