Tapping valves

Topic starter

Hi Scotty, I have a Ford F-150 with a 5.0 motor that has 10,000 miles on it.

the valves seem to tap at around 20-23-24 mph. Any idea why this is happening and the fix for it?

This could be a variety of things. Does the tapping happen at the same RPM when the truck is in park/neutral?

It happens when the truck is in gear with a light pedal. Mos

If it only does this when you're driving, it could possibly be some light detonation. Try running some 93 octane gas, if this reduces, or the noise goes away, then the noise is likely pre-ignition.

So.... what do I do to resolve the problem? Other than using high test gasoline
