Good evening everyone hope all is well. 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the V6 cheers to lil over 211,500 miles and still counting. On the way home from work the temp gauge all a sudden rises to half then a bit over then went back down. All this was while driving but it didn't go towards H I will say that. I do have a 180 degree thermostat, I feel the engine and doesn't feel hot rather cool and the cooling fan still works. Is it the thermostat or something else? It all happened halfway home not that it striked fear in me cause it didn't rise to or near H. -Thanks
I figured it out. Not familiar with deleting post here. Turned out it was air in the cooling system. Seems to be doing fine now.
@chaseboy4 I was thinking "air in the system" when I read your question. Question is how it got there.
I will say after I turned the heat off I started hearing gurgling/bubbling sounds
You have a coolant leak, or the radiator cap isn't holding pressure anymore. Air isn't supposed to be getting into your cooling system.
Get a coolant pressure tester gauge, you can rent them for free at any mainstream auto parts store, check your owner's manual for the coolant pressure specification, and pump it up to that pressure. Wait 10-15 minutes, then go back to it. It should read about the same as when you left it. If not, you have a coolant leak.
@justin-shepherd radiator cap was replaced back somewhere in August of this year but I will mention after turning the heat off I heard gurgling/bubbling for few seconds
