Hi Scotty, I lived in Canada but I loved your videos on youtube! I just bought a 2008 honda civic with 185K KM (115K miles) in it last month and everything runs fine except for the temperature gauge not reaching optimal operating temperature. I usually drive for 30 mins on the highway from home to work and vise versa but the temperature gauge always reads cold. The civic's temperature gauges are digital and usually show 3 to 4 bars on the dash after a highway drive. I know it's the middle of winter and we experience extreme cold here but my question is does it affect the coolant temperature so much that it will always read cold? If not, what can I do about it?

Is the engine actually not heating up (does your heat work?), or is it just that the gauge isn't reading properly. If the former your thermostat is stuck open, if the latter the temperature sending unit or the connection to it is shot.

yes heater works perfectly fine. it is just temperature gauge doesn't shows proper reading

14 year old car, I'd pick the temp sending unit.

I doubt that's the problem. I have to wait until summer to see if that's the problem

I don't.
