2004 F 150,5.4, auto,4wd, 140000miles. Trans jerks when shifting down from OD, and shifting into OD. A couple times it went down, up,down up,down rapidly,while jerking violently.It does not do this all the time, but its becoming more frequent. Not sure if fluid has ever been changed. No codes . Thoughts? Thanks
check the simple stuff first. Is the fluid topped up?
Yes, fluid full, and no smell. Looks slightly pink.
well if the filter has never been changed, you can try that. If that doesn't help there isn't much else you can do.
Probably a bad torque converter. Causes a "shudder."
he said it's only while shifting though. Shudder happens only on acceleration when there's TC slip.

Yes, only when engaging or disengaging over drive. thanks guys. drove it today and it only did it one time. Rest of the time is was smooth and could barely feel it.
