Would a used Ford Fiesta/Focus manual transmission be a good choice as an economical daily driver? Or would something like a manual Corolla fit the bill better? Thanks!

Oh the Corolla, by far!
The Fiesta/Focus will be much cheaper, however, they won’t hold up well like the Corolla.
Between those choices, it’ll always be the Corolla for me.

If you get an automatic focus 2014+ you will cluch issues with the dct.

Corolla all the way. It's not really comparable.
Ford suffered a huge lawsuit on those Fiesta and Focus transmissions.
