Thoughts on Autel Autolink AL619 scan tool

Topic starter

I am really wanting to invest in a scan tool and this one seems to be a solid one. It does ABS, SRS, and airbag warning as well. It's priced at $99.99 on amazon, originally $249.99. If anyone has any experience with this scan tool i would love your input. I am wanting something that's affordable but reasonable but powerful enough to handle most of the issues i could run into.

Don't overlook the BlueDriver when making your decision. It's also $99 and in addition to Airbag/SRS,

transmission, ABS, it does Mode 6 data.

Pretty good tool. Suggestion, though: … you probably would want one with a transmission function as a minimum, no? This one does not have it, …

… also software updates: … check for terms.

@figmund-sreud
you guys are more knowledgeable than me,
but your list does say "transmission" and the BlueDriver site claims it can read/clear transmission codes

Yes. Official list of what BlueDriver is monitoring / displaying is as i posted earlier. I got that list when I inquired about the transmission.

Anyway, regarding my inquiry: … I just made an inquiry to BlueDriver about transmission coverage, specifically, I wanted to know if BlueDriver monitors and displays ATF temperature, since this is most crucial parameter to monitor, especially since sealed transmissions are currently in vogue. And so, here is a copy of the text I received from them:

"Unfortunately transmission temperature is not part of the OBDII standard live data set and is not currently supported by BlueDriver. We are starting R&D on displaying ATF temp for Chrysler & Toyota (the two most common requests for fluid changes) but there is no full ETA for release, or a list of what manufacturers will follow.

New features are added in order of demand so I'll record your vote!" Fwiw,

I can't argue with your point however you seem to be a professional mechanic.
That's what I like about Scotty's forum. It's a great way for guys who repair their own vehicles to talk to the pros.
Most of us "do it yourselfer's" really don't know what to do with Live Transmission Data.
For us, if it throws a "transmission temperature code", we'd probably check the transmission cooler to see if it's "cruded" up. Check the trans fluid for level and discoloration, or maybe drop the pan and change the transmission fluid/filter, and after that we'd be done.
Guys like me (and most likely carguyus) since we both diagnose our problems with a $100 scanner, would like to read a transmission code that lets us know we have a problem , but speaking for myself, I wouldn't be "delving" into any automatic transmission repairs on my own. That's when I take it to a professional.
For me, I have a scanner that plugs in by wire to the OBDll port.
I like the idea of being able to read live data while I'm under the hood.
Maybe it's just a "novice" thing.
