Hello, I wanted to know what u guys think of DSG transmissions from VW?
It's a super fun transmission in my honest opinion. It shifts super fast that it causes the engine to backfire when up-shifting (the famous "dsg farts").
HOWEVER, that super fast shifting with the dual-clutch design puts a lot of wear and tear on the transmission from high fluid temps and pressures. That's why they need a fluid change every 40k miles.
They shift SUPER fast but they also wear out SUPER fast. If you're the type of person that likes that kind of driving, lease a GTI/GLI. Otherwise, stay away from it.
Run away fast! The only manufacturers that I can think of who have used DSG transmissions are Volkswagen and Ford. Both the Volkswagen and Ford transmissions have been biodegradable and there have been class action lawsuits in regards to the transmissions.
Here is what will happen to that VW w/ a DSG and how it will be fixed:

awful. VW does not know how to make autos
Both are potentially problematic. Check whether the DSC is a dry clutch or a wet clutch. The dry clutch has had severe issues, as in the Getrag units in the Ford Fiesta. As far as I know, the wet clutches haven't had the same problems. I'd recommend to steer clear of any used DSGs.
Thank you all for your answers!
